Police looking into reports of drive-by shooting in Dunedin

Shots were allegedly fired from a vehicle in Dunedin this afternoon.

In a statement, police said a person of interest is being sought in connection to gunfire from a vehicle targeted towards another vehicle on Thomas Burns St at around 4.40pm.

As of 8pm, police are yet to locate the person of interest.

"Cordons at Brighton Road have been lifted following police enquiries to locate a person of interest following a report of a firearm being discharged on Thomas Burns Street earlier this afternoon," police told 1News.

"Police have not located the person and enquiries will remain ongoing."
