ACT leader David Seymour says a coalition announcement will "happen very soon".
Seymour spoke to 1News outside Parliament today.
He said he had talked to Christopher Luxon this morning.
"I think we are really closing in on having a good deal."
He said a battle between him and NZ First leader Winston Peters had been "overstated".
"I'm not going to go into who's got what roles in the new Cabinet but that will be announced as soon as we're ready.

"I totally understand that people are frustrated by the length of time - it has taken some time. However, we've taken three competitors in an election, turning them into three co-operators in a government with a policy programme to address the substantial challenges that led New Zealanders into voting us in in the first place.
"Some people say, well, how long should that be? There's no real standard for that because I don't think anyone's done it in this format before. It's taken about the right amount of time for the challenges that we face, and the challenges that we will face as a government."
Asked if a coalition deal announcement would happen today, Seymour said: "I suspect it will happen very soon, but I can't say exactly when.
"It's not long, I promise that."
1News understands National has had an all of caucus briefing over the phone this afternoon for an update on coalition negotiations.
Earlier today, New Zealand First leader Winston Peters arrived in Wellington but refused to answer any questions about whether a deal had been reached and whether he was deputy prime minister.
