As he approaches his 14th year in the NRL, Warriors playmaker Shaun Johnson believes he still has a point to prove.

Heading into what may be his final season, Johnson said he was excited about the challenge of the season right in front of him — not what awaits beyond 2024.

“To be completely honest, I don’t know if this will be my last year. But it's going to get to a point where it gets sticky, where the club has to make a decision," he told 1News.

"I have to make a decision and, when it comes, I'll decide then."

Johnson, with 252 appearances to his name, said he was feeling "really good" going into the 2024 NRL competition.

"For me, it’s crazy to think I’ve been in that environment for that long now but still feel like I’ve got a bit of a point to prove,” Johnson said

Johnson was unlucky to miss out on the NRL's best player last season but certainly proved he has plenty to give as the Warriors eye a premiership run this season.

The 33-year-old was hampered by injuries towards the back end of last season but came into round one fit and ready to go.

“I had an injury throughout pre-season that maybe put me back a wee bit, so there's work to be done between now and round one and especially through early parts of the season to set me up for a good year, which I'm going to do," Johnson said.
