The UK embassy in Moscow has been forced to deny claims that appeared in Russian media that King Charles III had died.
Russian outlets claimed Charles, who revealed recently he has cancer, had died as a result of complications, citing "media" reports.
The claim was withdrawn soon after, but it forced the embassy to issue a denial.
"Reports of the death of King Charles III of Great Britain are fake!" it wrote on X. It also posted the denial on Telegram.
The embassy in Kyiv also issued a denial.
According to Mail Online, Russian newswire Sputnik carried the following lines.
"King Charles III of Great Britain has died at the age of 75, according to media reports.
"There is no information about this on the royal family website or in the British media."
A fake statement from Buckingham Palace had also been circulated.
