King Charles III waves following his coronation.

King Charles III has reportedly told aides to ramp up plans for a two-week visit Down Under following a positive start to his cancer treatment.

The 75-year-old monarch wants to return to our shores with Queen Camilla in October.

A source told the Sun: "The King is raring to go and keen to get on with the job."

The insider added Charles is "over the moon" with the progress of his cancer treatment and is now "supercharging" plans for the two-week trip which would cover Australia, New Zealand and Samoa.

The tour will reportedly include "significant down-time" to ensure the King is well enough to carry out his engagements.

Charles previously cancelled all of his public-facing royal duties after he was diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer in early February.

The diagnosis announcement read: "During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.

"His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.

He made his first significant public outing earlier this week attending an Easter service at Windsor Castle.

The service itself was smaller than usual as Kate, the Princess of Wales, is also being treated for cancer and has paused public duties.

Charles is also believed to be hoping to attend the Trooping of the Colour - a ceremonial event held annually to celebrate the monarch's birthday.
