Sailors Isaac McHardie and Will McKenzie may finally get to race for Olympic gold in the 49er class at Marseille sometime tonight.
Their medal race was scheduled for early Friday morning (NZ time), but it was abandonned a couple of times — one with the Kiwis in gold medal position — due to lack of wind.
The event finale has been scheduled again for tonight at 11.13pm, but the conditions have been so fickle at the Mediterranean port, it's impossible to tell exactly when it might take place.
McHardie and McKenzie currently sit third, but the field is tightly packed enough that they can take gold or fall down the rankings in a double-points format.
Following the gold/silver/bronze result from the rowing last night, lightweight scullers Jackie Kiddle and Shannon Cox carry New Zealand's hopes at Vaires sur Marne Nautical Stadium, while tomorrow morning, trampolinist Dylan Schmidt will try to improve on his Tokyo bronze, after winning a world title in the meantime.
Golfer Ryan Fox can build on his solid opening round at Le Golf National. In athletics, sprinter Zoe Hobbs, middle distance star Sam Tanner, and shot putters Tom Walsh and Jacko Gill face heats and qualifying rounds in their respective events.
Slalom specialist Luuka Jones will line up in the kayak cross, which she won at the Olympic test event at the same venue last year.
