Yanfei Bao's alleged killer appears in court

The man accused of killing Christchurch mother Yanfei Bao has reappeared at the High Court in Christchurch today.

Tingjun Cao, now 53, appeared by video link before Justice Rob Osborne.

Last month, just days after the one year anniversary of her disappearance, police found Bao’s body in a shallow grave in rural farmland in the Greenpark area.

More than 60 officers were involved in searching the area at the time.

In September 2023 Cao pleaded not guilty to Bao’s kidnapping and murder.

The court heard today everything was still on track for his trial, set down for October.
