The Paralympics will be free to watch on TVNZ, presented by Scotty Stevenson and Dame Sophie Pascoe.

TVNZ+ will have five dedicated pop-up channels on the streaming platform and there will be coverage on TVNZ1 from 7.30pm each day of the Games.

The New Zealand Paralympic Team’s performances in Paris will be the focus of the broadcast, which will be live captioned by Able and will include live, delayed and replayed coverage and highlights.

The opening ceremony will be broadcast live on TVNZ+ and TVNZ1 from 5.55am on Thursday morning.

Throughout the Games, Stevenson will be in studio with 11-time gold medal Para swimmer Dame Sophie, while 1News Sport Reporter Victor Waters will be on the ground in the French capital.

Waters will report on Kiwi athletes as they compete in the Games, which run from August 29 to September 9.

Dame Sophie said she is excited at the prospect of co-hosting the Games coverage.

“This will be my first time presenting, making it a new challenge, but it's an incredible opportunity to be part of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games in a different capacity,” she said.

“I know our audience will be captivated by our athletes' performances and appreciate the awareness we're bringing to Paralympic sports.”

And Paralympics New Zealand CEO Greg Warnecke said he was “elated” to have unprecedented levels of coverage.

“To have extensive free-to-air coverage of the Games across multiple TVNZ channels will allow the New Zealand public to follow our athletes like never before and best showcase their incredible feats in Paris.”

The coverage is supported by NZ On-Air and sponsored by Toyota.

When the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics were shown on TVNZ+, live streaming numbers reached almost 750,000 views.

An Attitude Pictures documentary - Grit & Glory: The Road to the Paralympics – will air on Saturday August 24, 8.05pm on TVNZ 1 and TVNZ+.

Watch the Paralympics live on TVNZ+ and TVNZ1 from August 29-September 9.
