Kiwi striker Chris Wood has been recognised for his consistent goal-scoring in the English Premier League by picking up the PFA fans' player of the month award.

Wood scored four goals from three appearances for Nottingham Forrest to beat the likes of Liverpool's Mohamed Salah for the month of October.

The award was voted by fans based on last month's performances, with Wood also nominated for the overall Premier League player of the month award which is set to be announced tomorrow.

He's also the first Kiwi to win the award.

Wood scored against Chelsea in a 1-1 draw and against Crystal Palace in a 1-0 win before ending the month with a brace against Leceister City.

Wood is currently tied for second in the Premier League's golden boot standings with a total of eight goals, tied with Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo. Manchester City's Erling Haaland leads with 11 goals.

Forrest are currently third on the Premier League table, only behind Liverpool and Manchester City.

The 32-year-old is returning to New Zealand for the international break to play for the All Whites in their World Cup qualifying campaign.

They play Vanuatu in Hamilton next Friday and Samoa in Auckland in their bid to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
