The Kiwi connection at Nottingham Forest continues to grow, with New Zealand international Tyler Bindon this morning officially joining the Premier League club for whom striker Chris Wood is excelling.
Defender Bindon, 20, was signed during the transfer window from League One club Reading.
Bindon, who has 13 international caps, will be loaned back to Reading but is in with a chance of playing in Europe next season as Forest, currently third in the Premier League thanks in part to Wood’s 17 goals this season, are on track to qualify for the Champions League.
Last year, All Whites midfielder Marko Stamenic also signed a long-term deal with Nottingham Forest, but is currently on loan with sister club Olympiacos.
In December, centre back Bindon, who has played 74 times for Reading and who has occasionally captained the side, scored a spectacular bicycle kick goal to beat Mansfield Town.
“I just saw it and thought there’s no way I can get to this besides going with my foot, so I just went up and it went in. It was pretty cool,” Bindon told Royals TV.
Bindon is the son of former Football Ferns goalkeeper Jenny Bindon and New Zealand volleyball captain Grant Bindon.
