Warriors utility Dylan Walker has been granted an early release on compassionate grounds to join the Parramatta Eels immediately.
The 30-year-old joined the Warriors on a three-year deal at the beginning of the 2023 season.
Walker was named to wear the number 14 jersey less than 24 hours ago as the Warriors travel to face the Wests Tigers in Sydney on Sunday.
Warriors chief executive Cameron George said the club was keen for him to stay until the end of the season but appreciated why he needed to return to Sydney.
"We’ve really enjoyed having him at our club and he has given us tremendous service. He goes with our support and best wishes."
Eels general manager Mark O'Neil said the club was "excited to have a player of Dylan's caliber join the Eels".
"Dylan is such a tough competitor who will suit our style of football and he will provide class and experience to our team."
He would be available for selection in Round 5 against the Dragons.
Walker, a 232-game NRL player, joined the Warriors after 124 appearances for Manly.
He played his 46th and final match for the Warriors in their 14-6 win over the Roosters at Mt Smart Stadium on Friday.
It's another blow to the Warriors after winger Roger Tuivasa-Sheck was ruled out for eight weeks with a hamstring injury.
The Warriors currently sit in seventh position on the NRL ladder after their first three matches.
