Watch: Ref kicks pitch-invading coach during Peru football match

A Peruvian football match descended into chaos when a coach was kicked in the face by the referee after he stormed the field armed with a plastic bottle.

The dramatic scenes occurred in the 82nd minute of Sport Huaquilla's Copa Peru clash against Magdalena CEDEC in Ancash.

According to the Daily Mail, Luis Alegre extended his leg as the coach ran onto the pitch while waving the bottle.

The coach was caught in the face by Alegre's boot and fell to the ground, but got back up shortly after and was held back by players.

Alegre managed to keep hold of the red card he was brandishing through the drama.

The match then descended into further chaos, with players from both teams swarming Alegre and the two linesmen.

The game was eventually suspended.

It was unclear if the coach needed medical treatment or if the referee would face disciplinary action.
