What you need to know
- A severe thunderstorm watch remains in force for Northland, Auckland, Great Barrier Island, Coromandel Peninsula, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Rotorua and Taupō.
- The storms were expected to include torrential downpours, with up to 40mm of rain falling in an hour, which can lead to slips and flash flooding.
- A caravan was overturned by a reported tornado in Manawatū, with one injured and three others assessed for injury.
