A recall has been issued for Michelin X Multi Z and X Line Energy Z tyres due to the potential for cracking, leading to a risk of "rapid pressure loss".
Product Safety NZ issued the recall for 355/50R22.5 X Multi Z and 355/50R22.5 X Line Energy Z tyres.
"There is a potential occurrence of a circumferential crack in the sidewall area at the bar code field, which could present a risk of rapid pressure loss,” Product Safety said.
“This is a proactive and precautionary measure, as no product has experienced pressure loss to date."
The tyres affected contain alphanumerical Department of Transportation codes with the last four digits numbered 0123 to 0825.
Anyone with tyres affected by the recall has been advised to observe the product.
"If there is no crack or rubber lip at the bar code field, the tyre is fine and can stay on the vehicle for further use," Product Safety said.
"If there is a crack or rubber lip at the bar code field, the tyre needs to be replaced.
"If you are uncomfortable doing the inspection yourself, contact the Michelin dealer where you purchased the tyre to arrange a visit from a Michelin representative."
A replacement tyre can be arranged through your Michelin dealer.
