MetService is forecasting a "changeable" weekend of weather following a turbulent week of flooding, slips and destruction.
Communities across the central and lower North Island bore the brunt of the low pressure system, before it moved south on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Many affected areas have begun the potentially lengthy clean-up required following the severe weather - while the forecaster said another "series of fronts" were expected heading into the weekend.
"A series of fronts wash over the South Island bringing periods of rain, but with long fine breaks in between," it said in a post online.
"The North Island has higher pressure weakening the fronts as they move north, but still expect the odd shower."
MetService meteorologist Heather Keats said things would return to "more summery temperatures" today across the county.
"There are a couple of little weather features scooting up the west coast of the South Island today.
"They are fairly weak though, and will reach the North Island overnight tonight.”
Keats said there would be "a couple of showers around", but "plenty of blue sky too".
Maximum temperatures would remain "pretty average", with low to mid 20s abounding.
"But you might notice a slight autumnal chill," MetService said.
"Most of the country will see low teens or single digit minimum temperatures Saturday morning, with Alexandra hitting a low of 4C!"
Napier and Hastings could reach highs of 28C today, Keats said.
