Hutt City parking meters back up following communications issue

Hutt City Council said in a post online it was "aware of a nationwide communications issue affecting our parking meters".

Parking meters across Hutt City are working again after being affected by an earlier "nationwide communications issue".

Earlier today, Hutt City Council said in a post online it was "aware of a nationwide communications issue affecting our parking meters".

In an update shortly after 11am, the council said the meters were now working.

"Our parking wardens were not enforcing paid parking during the outage.

"If you were unable to pay for your parking this morning, we encourage you to do so as soon as you are able to avoid infringements."

Payments were completely cashless (card only), and could be paid for using PayWave directly at the meter, or remotely via the PayMyPark App.

"The PayMyPark app was working during this time, if you paid using the app this morning, no further action is required," a council spokesperson said.

Hutt City Council parking meters typically operate daily from 9am to 5pm, according to the council's website.

Auckland Transport earlier confirmed to 1News it was "not having any issues with our parking meters across Auckland, and that our contactless payment system on buses is also working as it should with no known issues".
