Lyn Fleming's 'cowardly' killer to spend at least 22 years behind bars
The man who murdered Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming in Nelson has been jailed for at least 22 years.
In May, Hayden Tasker was found guilty of her murder by a jury and of injuring Fleming’s colleague, Senior Sergeant Adam Ramsay.
In the High Court at Nelson today, Justice Cameron Mander sentenced Tasker to life imprisonment with a minimum non-parole period of 22 years.
'Not credible': US hits New Zealand with higher 12.5% tariff
The US has imposed a new 12.5% tariff on New Zealand, as President Donald Trump looks to get around a Supreme Court decision that struck down his earlier "Liberation Day" tariffs.
New Zealand joins 59 other economies, including the UK and Australia, in facing tariffs ranging from 10% to 12.5%.
US trade representative Jamieson Greer said the new tariffs were designed to combat goods produced with forced labour – a claim Trade Minister Todd McClay rejects.
Mother's 'nightmare' Air NZ travel ordeal with autistic son
A Kiwi mother says a disrupted journey with Air New Zealand left her young autistic son distressed, after what was meant to be a direct flight to Bali turned into more than 30 hours of travel across three countries.
Kama Kanic said she and her nine-year-old son had booked a direct flight from Auckland to Bali earlier this month, but were informed their flight had been cancelled upon arrival.
"We were reassured that we'd been rebooked via Taipei with ''just a quick stop''. That quick stop became a nightmare,' she said.
