Man arrested after recording device found in kindy staff bathroom

A man has been arrested after a recording device was found in the staff bathroom of a Mount Maunganui early childhood centre.

Police said the device was first discovered on Tuesday, June 30.

No children were identified in any of the recordings.

Following an investigation, a 53-year-old man was arrested and charged with making an intimate visual recording.

He was due to reappear in the Tauranga District Court on August 3.

"As the matter is before the court, police will not be commenting further."
