A person is in hospital after firefighters spent the night battling a blaze at the Gloriavale community on the West Coast.
A Fire and Emergency NZ spokesperson said the blaze at the remote Christian community was reported shortly before 9pm.
The fire was in a waste oil plant, and took up half the building.
Crews from Moana, Ngahere, Grey, Brunner and Ikamatua responded.
A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one person was taken to Grey Hospital in a moderate condition.
The blaze was extinguished at around 11.25pm.
The fire is not being treated as suspicious, and a fire investigator will be at the scene this morning to determine its cause.
