Three people have been critically injured after a two-vehicle crash on the Lindis Pass which closed a section of State Highway 8 this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene, between Lindis Pass-Tarras Rd and Birchwood Rd, at around 7.40am.
St John responded with four ambulances, a first response unit, a PRIME vehicle and one manager.
"Our crews have assessed and treated three patients who have all been transported to Dunedin Hospital in a critical condition."
The section was closed in both directions and "the road will remain closed for several hours".
