One person has died after getting into difficulty in the water in Wainui today.
A police spokesperson said emergency services were called about midday after someone was pulled from the water after getting into difficulty near Cape Three Points around midday.
"Sadly, they were unable to be revived," a police spokesperson said.
St John said it responded to the water incident near Bossu Rd in Wainui just before midday.
It sent one first response unit, one PRIME responder and one helicopter to the scene.
The death would be referred to the Coroner.
Cape Three Points was a rocky headland and small island group located at the southern end of Wainui Bay in Akaroa Harbour, on Banks Peninsula.
