A fire at a Masterton pub has sent smoke billowing into the sky this morning.
Fire crews were called to Farriers Bar and Eatery on Queen Street after an automatic alarm at around 7.30am.
When crews arrived, the fire was "well involved".
Crews from Masterton, Carterton, Greytown, and specialist trucks from Remutaka and Avalon were sent to battle the blaze. Additional resources were also sent from Wellington.
In an update just after 8.35am, Fire and Emergency NZ said the fire was under control.
"Crews remain at the scene carrying out minor internal firefighting and salvage operations to protect unaffected areas of the building and its contents."
